Weight loss is not a one size fits all situation! Every case is unique and there are so many variables to take into account. My advice is to look for professional help if you want to start a weight loss journey, that's the way to do it, but, in the meantime, here are some tips to help you through the way. Before starting, forget about the idea of restriction and dieting, but embrace it as a journey of enrichment and positivity, always with an open mind, without being hard on yourself. • 🇮🇪🤔 What should I eat on holiday? (I • 🇮🇪🤔 What should I eat on holiday? (Ita 🇮🇹 below/ 3rd slide) . This is by far the question I got asked more often in the last month or so. Holidays should be a moment of pure relax and food should be part of the enjoyment, not a reason for stressing out!Good nutrition is not about being perfect all the time, but about being educated about what we eat and building sustainable healthy habits on the long term, without restricting yourself. . Whatever you're following a meal plan for weight loss, build muscle or whatever, holidays won't ruin your progress. You won't lose muscles if you don't stick to your workout schedule for a couple of weeks and you won't gain fat for eating and drinking more than usual for a limited period of time. You may feel more bloated then usual and have an increase of water retention? Yes, but that's a normal and temporary effect😉 It's what you do all year long that matters! Your approach to food and active lifestyle won't disappear or change while you're on holiday! 🤗 . Enjoy your deserved rest!✈️ 🇮🇹🤔 . Cosa dovrei mangiare quando sono in vacanza? . Questa è di gran lunga la domanda che mi è stata posta più spesso nell'ultimo mese. Le vacanze dovrebbero essere un momento di puro relax ed il cibo dovrebbe essere parte del divertimento, non un motivo di stress! Una buona alimentazione non consiste nell'essere sempre perfetti, ma nell'essere educati su ciò che mangiamo e nel costruire abitudini sane e sostenibili a lungo termine, senza limitarsi. . Se state seguendo un piano alimentare per perdere peso, aumentare la massa muscolare o altro, le vacanze non rovineranno di certo@i vostri progressi. Non si perde massa muscolare se non ci si attiene al programma di allenamento per un paio di settimane e non si ingrassa per aver mangiato e bevuto più del solito per un periodo di tempo limitato. Potreste sentirvi più gonfi del solito e avere un aumento della ritenzione idrica? Sì, ma è un effetto normale e temporaneo. L'importante è quello che fate durante tutto l'anno! Il vostro approccio verso il cibo e verso uno stile di vita attivo non sparirà o cambierà mentre siete in vacanza! 🤗 Quindi relax e buone vacanze! ✈️ 🧳

• 🍠🍁🥜 Sweet potato & peanut butter brow • 🍠🍁🥜 Sweet potato & peanut butter brownies . 🇮🇪 (Italian below) ✅ 4 ingredients ✅ Flour free ✅Sugar free ✅Gluten free ✅Oil free ✅5g+ protein per serving . 1 cup boiled and mashed sweet potato (peel off), around 250g- 2 large units should be enough -boil them until fork tender (don't microwave them or they will become too dry) 25g cocoa powder 60g maple syrup 120g peanut butter . Mix together all the ingredients into a rough but homogeneous mixture. Pour it in a tray covered with baking paper. Drizzle with some tahini or favourite nut butter on top and bake at 180 for 13-15 minutes (13 min: more fudgy, my choice - 15 min: more firm) Balanced breakfast idea: 2 pieces of brownie (1/4 of the small tray) + chocolate protein cream 🍫 (100g soy yogurt mixed with 15g vegan chocolate protein+ a splash of water)+ half banana 🍌, a couple of cherries 🍒, goji berries and a sprinkle of cinnamon + to drink: 🫖 or ☕️ with a splash of plant milk . It's not too late for some Sunday baking!🥰 Try this easy 4 ingredient recipe for a satisfying breakfast or a great afternoon healthy treat! Versarlo in una teglietta rivestita da carta forno, decorate in superficie con qualche schizzo di tahini o il vostro burro di frutta secca preferito. Cuocere in forno a 180 gradi per 13-15 minuti (13: più morbido-15 minuti: più fermo) . Chocolate is a superfood which can be part of a balanced healthy diet, without concerns. No, chocolate won't "make you fat" if you eat a reasonable amount of it. No, eating an apple when you're craving chocolate won't help. The craving will still be there! How to suppress it? Eat that chocolate! This approach will help you to enjoy a couple of squares anytime you feel like to, without the necessity of devouring the whole bar (probably not even enjoying it)! If I have learnt something in my experience as a nutritionist is that people love simplicity in recipes and flavours. These elements are key for a successful plan on the long term. I might be a cooking freak who loves to experiment with weird ingredients, but most people aren't. Some people love porridge for breakfast everyday, some people don't, or at least they want an alternative and that's totally fine. That's why I include easy, straightforward recipes like this in my plans. Flour, sugar, cocoa. No weird ingredients or hours of preparation. The result is a healthy and comforting baked treat, good for your body and soul. Is it the perfect breakfast or snack, nutritionally speaking? Probably not, but this doesn't mean it can't be part of a balanced diet. . Enjoy it for afternoon tea 🫖 or make a healthy breakfast with a nice slice 🍰, a couple of tablespoons of yogurt, a handful of berries 🫐 and a nice cuppa ☕️🥰 . 🇮🇹 . 🍫🍊🍩 Ciambellone cioccolato e arancia . Una cosa che ho imparato nella mia esperienza come nutrizionista è quanto sia importante garantire la semplicità nelle ricette e nei sapori. Questi elementi sono la chiave per un piano alimentare di successo a lungo termine. Io personalmente posso essere un'appassionata di cucina, che ama cimentarsi con ricette strane che richiedono 30 ingredienti, ma la maggior parte delle persone non lo sono. Alcune persone amano il porridge a colazione tutti i giorni, altre no, o almeno vogliono un'alternativa...ed è assolutamente legittimo! • Mindful eating 🍽☯️ . 🇮🇪 (Italian • Mindful eating 🍽☯️ . 🇮🇪 (Italian: second slide and 1st comment) In order to build a successful nutritional journey and to develop a more balanced and happier relationship with food and your own diet, mindfulness plays a crucial and not negligible part. Mindful eating has nothing to do with meditation or stuff, but it's the simple application of some tips that will make you more self aware of your daily diet and your sense of satiety and satisfaction. These tips, which may seem like imposed rules at the beginning, will develop into healthy spontaneous behaviours. . 🌼 Why at least 20 minutes, you might ask? 👉🏻 After a meal, gut suppresses the release of a hormone called ghrelin, which controls hunger, releasing satiety hormones instead. These hormones inform our brain of the meal you just had, reducing your appetite, making us feel full. This process takes about 20 minutes, so slowing down the eating pace gives our brain time to receive these signals. It basically takes 20 minutes for stomach and brain to "synchronise". 🌼 I might be an outsider but no, I am not asking you to quit Netflix while you're eating. Let's be realistic. All of us love to chill, having dinner watching a good series (it's part of the cosy environment, isn't it?😏)and, talking for myself, I love having breakfast on my own while at my phone, checking emails and news. Despite that, you can still be able to apply those tips and make them part of your routine. • 🇮🇪 10 ingredients you should always have • 🇮🇪 10 ingredients you should always have in your kitchen 🛒 ✔️ / 🇮🇹 Italian first comment/3rd slide It's our diet that should adapt to our needs and daily routine, not the opposite. That's the key for making healthy habits sustainable on the long term. What can we do to turn this into practice? Keeping it simple, starting from our counter and fridge! These ingredients alone are enough to build a balanced, diverse, satisfying and nutritionally complete diet. First of all for their versatility. ✅Yogurt? Don't think it just in a bowl with cereals. It can be a base for dressings if you mix it with herbs and a drizzle of lemon juice. ✅Avocado/ nut butters are other examples. They can be turned into smoothies, condiments, marinades. ✅ The easiest grab-and-go and healthiest snacks: fruits and nuts. Among all snacks in the world, these couple will always be the best choice! ✅ Soaked beans are better? Who cares! Drain and wash canned pulses under water before heating/cooking them and they are fine anyway! They are a lifesaver for weeknights, a easy comforting meal (a stew, a curry, etc.) ready in a few minutes! ✅Pre packed salad? Fresh is always better, but it is still good if you are in a hurry. I always have a pack of spinach, kale, mixed leaves, rocket, lamb lettuce in my fridge...just in case! Darker the green, the better! A triumph of fibers, micronutrients and flavours! Introducing my new weekly recipe post! 📌 To start, a tasty and nourishing recipe perfect for everyone! These gnocchi are #glutenfree and protein packed as they are made with fava beans flour! Pulse flours as lentil, soy, fava, chickpea are a perfect healthy way to increase your protein intake. They not only contain more protein than regular/plain flours and other gluten free flours, but they have also a much greater amount of fiber and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals, such as iron, folate, magnesium). Fibers in them help control absorption of dietary sugars and the combination with proteins aids sense of satiety. They are so versatile and work well in sweet and savoury dishes. Here is just an example! 😉 I've served these gnocchi in a roasted squash sauce with a smoked tofu crumble on top, on a bed of fresh spinach! But possibilities are endless!. Questi gnocchetti sono #senzaglutine e ricchi di proteine, in quanto realizzati con farina di fave! Le farine di legumi (fave, ceci, lenticchie) sono perfette per incrementare l'assunzione di proteine, in maniera salutare, nella dieta. Non solo contengono più proteine delle normali farine di grano tenero o di altre farine senza glutine, ma sono anche ricche di fibre e micronutrienti (vitamine e minerali, come folati, magnesio, ferro). Le fibre in esse, combinate con le proteine, aiutano inoltre ad incrementare il senso di sazietà e a rallentare l'assorbimento degli zuccheri. Sono estremamente versatili, in piatti dolci e salati. Qui solo un esempio dei loro mille utili! 😉 Ho condito questi gnocchetti con una crema di zucca arrosto e un crumble di tofu affumicato 😋 e serviti su un letto di spinaci! As my clients know, I consider exercise a pivotal part for the achievement of a condition of holistic health, both physical and mental. Forget herbal remedies or pills, physical activity is the only effective way to boost your metabolism. All the other stuff is marginal, that's it! That's why a nutritional journey should always be accompanied by a fitness journey, compatible to individual needs and possibilities. To make a step in this direction: just start, try different things, find what you like and go ahead. Only in this way you will figure out that exercise is a celebration of yourself and your abilities, not a duty or a punishment. This process takes time, but it is worth it. Exercise can really become a wonderful way to talk sincerely to yourself, get to know you at a deeper level and show yourself love. So just start and go for a walk! 🙂 . 🇮🇹 . Solo in questo modo inizierai a vedere l'esercizio fisico non più come una punizione o un dovere, ma come una celebrazione di te stesso e delle tue capacità! Questo processo richiede tempo, ma ne vale la pena. L'attività fisica può davvero diventare un mezzo meraviglioso per comunicare e conoscere se stessi ad un livello più profondo ed amarsi.
